Single colour gobos are achieved by overlaying a coloured dichroic filter, primary CMY or RGB, onto the first glass slide.
Often you can get the same result by using a black and white gobo and applying the colour with the color wheel.
The use of a single-colour gobo is advisable only when a specific shade not available on the colour wheel is needed or when using a fixture without a colour wheel.
